Here are some of the headlines we've seen during the fundraising campaign, starting with the latest and working back to the earliest.

Motueka pool project gets the final go-ahead
(November 27) - A crucial milestone has been passed toward building an indoor swimming pool in Motueka, with the completion of the long-awaited feasibility study and an agreement signed off between the high school and the new pool operators. Under the agreement, the Ministry of Education will gift the pool to the community through the management of Good Sports Motueka (GSM), and sub-lease the Wakatu-owned land to GSM. Rotary donates $8,000 to pool project
(August 8) - The Motueka Community Swimming Pool fundraising team got a great boost on Monday when Motueka Rotary handed over a cheque of $8,000 for the project to build an indoor pool. The money was raised by Rotary from a boat trip for members and friends to D'Urville Island in June. The Knapp family donated the Crusader boat, used normally to ferry people around the Abel Tasman National Park, for the day.

Naming rights sponsorship signed up for pool clock
June 1 - Another boost came to the Motueka Community Pool Fundraising Group this week with the signing up of a second sponsorship package. Life Investments (2009) Limited have signed up for naming rights on the pool clock, which will be used often by competitive swimmers to check their training times. Read about it here »

'Giving back' the motive for huge pool donation
April 26 - A strong desire to "give back" to the Motueka community has led Leeon Johnston to pledge $25,000 to support the Motueka Community Swimming Pool fundraising effort. Leeon, of Bayleys Real Estate, last week pledged to donate $500 from every property sale he makes from now on until his donations total the $25,000 mark. Read about it here »

Warehouse partners with 'Bags for Good' fundraiser
January 28 - Warehouse Motueka has again chosen our project as a recipient of money from its 'Bags for Good' scheme. Grab a token at checkouts and place it in our voting unit whenever you shop there. At the end of each six month period (from February to July) funds raised are given to each of the three store community partners according to their percentage of total votes.

Guthrie Bowron donates all paint
December 14 - Guthrie Bowron Motueka and Dulux have pledged to donate all the standard paint materials for the pool building, for walls, ceilings etc. They will also try to get as many local painters together to donate their time to paint the building. Read about it here »

New Community Store donates proceeds to pool project
November 29 - The recently opened Motueka Community Store has made its first donation of proceeds - a $500 cheque - to the Motueka Swimming Pool, with promises of more to come. Read about it here »

Ambrose golf tournament raises nearly $5,000
November 27 - Thanks to the organisational efforts of the Motueka Golf Club and great sponsorship support from local businesses, our Ambrose golf event raised nearly $5,000 for the pool; that despite a cold and windy day.

Greenwood Health donates $3,000 for pool
November 18 - The management and team at Greenwood Health have made a wonderful donation to our project, knowing that the indoor pool will greatly help the health of all Motueka people.

Swimming pool project reaches half-way point to target
November 7 - The pool fundraising team have set up shop on High Street as a base for their continuing efforts, as the campaign passes the halfway mark with more than $100,000 raised from donations and events. Read about it here »

Lionesses donate the $10,0000 proceeds from phone book sales
October 11 - The Motueka Lionesses have fulfilled their promise to donate to the pool project the proceeds from their popular Motueka & District telephone book, which this year came to $10,000.

Motueka Top 10 Holiday Park to donate $5,000
September 14 - A wonderful pledge of a donation from Steve and Jeanette Edwards, owners of our Top 10 Holiday Park. "We believe that a community pool will be a fantastic resource for the Motueka & surrounding district and have always been in favour for it. Thank you to you and the committee for persevering with this project."

Flooring Xtra donates materials, labour for pool
September 7 - Motueka's Flooring Xtra has made the first 'in-kind' donation of materials and labour for the construction of the indoor Motueka Community Swimming Pool. They have written a formal commitment to the pool fundraising committee to supply and install free of charge carpet in the pool's reception area and storeroom, and vinyl to the changing rooms, showers and toilets. Healthy result from pool fundraising festival
August 22 - Memorial Hall was picture of health yesterday with people learning about and shopping for health, fitness and beauty products and services. The four hour festival, a fundraiser for the Motueka Community Swimming Pool project, attracted up to 200 people and raised well in excess of $2,000 to help cover the pool. Read about it here »

Ray White to sponsor big golf tournament fundraiser
July 20 - Alan Atkins of Ray White Real Estate has given the fundraising committee $1000 and will become the principal sponsor of the special golf tournament fundraiser to be held on 13th November. This will enable the event to proceed, with the golf club providing the event organisaiton and other businesses taking up spondorship of individual holes. This promises to be a very dignificant fundraiser for us.

Lions back pool project with big donation
July 13 - The Motueka Lions have provided the biggest boost yet to the project to build a local covered swimming pool, with a donation this week of $15,000. And such is their strong belief in the value and benefit of providing a covered community pool that they have promised there will be considerably more to come. Read about it here »

Swimming pool fundraising gains crucial backing
June 18 - The campaign to build an indoor community swimming pool has received a vital boost with an agreement by Lotteries to pay for an independent professional feasibility study. Read about it here »

Jumping for joy on the horses
May 3 - The Motueka Dressage group had a fundraising dressage and showjumping event on May 1st, with proceeds from the entry fees going to the pool project. Thanks to lots of volunteer helpers, $774 was raised.

Pool fundraising committee seeks "friends"
April 12 - The fundraising committee for the Motueka Community Swimming Pool want to set up a network of supporters - "Friends of the Motueka Pool" - who can help sell raffle tickets, man information booths and other small tasks.

Movie premiere fundraiser nets $970
April 1 - The movie premiere at State Cinema of "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" netted us $970, plus $150 from the raffle (with the major prize a crayfish donated by Scott). Many thanks to him, Mark Wentworth and all supporters who attended.

Lionessses and Rotary donations
March 24 - Many thanks for $1,000 from the Motueka Lionesses as part of their annual allocation to community groups from their own fantastic fundraising work, and $2,000 from Motueka Rotary being the proceeds from their recent golf event fundraiser.

No rates to be used for swimming pool project
March 3 - The fundraising committee for the Community Swimming Pool are frustrated in their efforts by people who continue to believe that funds to enclose the High School pool will be paid for through their Council rates.

Pokororo women excel
December 15 - The Pokororo Womens Club have donated $500 to the pool. For such a tiny population they represent, this is a per capita brilliant effort.

A&P show booth
December 6 - Excellent day at the Motueka A&P Show. We raised more awareness in the community about our goals. AND .... we received $322.80 in cold donations.

Swimming Club says Yes!
November 18 - The Motueka Swimming Club has donated $5,000 to help the fundraising effort.

October 22 - Jane Cumming had the honour of being our first official donor a few weeks ago, and this article appeared in the local press about her. Others have come in since.

Motueka Phone book proceeds go to pool fundraising
October 15 - The Motueka Lionesses have promised to donate ALL of the proceeds from sales of their larger-print local phone book to our fundraising. They always make several thousand $$, so this is a wonderful gesture. Thanks Lionesses!
